Seismic analysis of high-speed railway irregular bridge–track system considering V-shaped canyon effect

Abstract To explore the effect of canyon topography on seismic response railway irregular bridge–track system that crosses a V-shaped canyon, ground motions horizontal site and were simulated through theoretical analysis with 12 earthquake records selected from Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center (PEER) Strong Ground Motion Database matching condition bridge. Nonlinear analyses an existing 11-span simply supported performed under spatially varying motions. The effects peak acceleration at bridge foundations responses analyzed. Comparisons between results sites show top relative displacement adjacent piers junction incident side back is almost two times site, which also determines fastener. maximum fastener occurs in 1.4 larger than site. Neglecting leads to inappropriate assessment high-speed system. Moreover, engineers should focus girder end left or right fasteners within distance track damage.
